Len Lisenbee's Outdoor World

Getting pummeled by an elderly lady with a broom, ending up chin deep in a beaver pond, getting knocked on the butt by a wood duck, or stopping a violator's motorboat with an airplane. These could have been everyday incidents if you happened to be a Federal Game Warden. All these and a lot of other situations, running the full gauntlet from sidesplittingly funny to deadly serious, are just part and parcel to one Federal game warden's life. And, while most were serious events when they originally happened, they are recounted here in mainly humorous form, a direct result of the mists of time. After all, nearly getting run down by an ocean-going ore carrier or a fish poacher's boat was anything but funny when it happened. But looking back over those many years since the incidents, humor has a way of, thankfully, exerting itself
This book contains many true stories from the life and good times of Len Lisenbee, a "Duck Cop" (a Federal Wildlife Agent) employed by the Division of Law Enforcement, one of the numerous agencies found within the United States Department of Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service.
It's all here. Tales about cases that ended in triumph with stiff fines or jail time, and tales about cases that simply fell apart right, in front of the agent's eyes. Investigations where "bees" turned out to be bullets, and a brainless genius of a dog first starts, then watches a dogfight. Tales of near-terror born most often of ignorance by an agent trying something new, but also with the assistance of a "zon" gun, beaver's tail, stormy lake, runaway bull moose, or a black bear rudely awakened from its winter nap. And, there are stories of the dumbest outdoor crooks anyone could ever imagine.
Names have been changed to protect the guilty from further embarrassment, or to protect agents who may still be active in the field. If someone claims "embellishment," the author would have to, in a few cases, plead "guilty." The humor almost always was present in every situation, but only in third-party status until many years had passed. But, most importantly, the essential facts have been changed only by the mists of time.
